The best Claude skills for video
Free repositories, paid packs and the exact install commands, each checked against the project's own page on October 28, 2026.
For making video, the strongest free Claude Code skills are HyperFrames (motion graphics from HTML, Apache-2.0) and Remotion's official skills (React); for editing your own footage, start with video-use (MIT), and for whole productions, OpenMontage (AGPL-3.0). Install a skill into ~/.claude/skills or as a plugin with claude plugin install, and read its files first, because skills and plugins can run code on your machine. Paid packs, from $29 to $99, add ready-made formats.
A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file of instructions, plus any scripts it needs, that Claude Code loads when your request matches it. Video is where skills earn their keep, because they teach the agent the rules of a renderer it would otherwise guess at.
There is no single store. Anthropic runs official plugin marketplaces, Vercel Labs' npx skills tool installs skills from GitHub and lists them at skills.sh, and curated lists fill the gaps. This list covers the tools worth installing for making and editing video, with stars and licenses as of October 28, 2026.

HyperFrames
HeyGen's renderer turns HTML, CSS and a seekable animation timeline into MP4, and its skills teach the agent the whole loop: plan, write, lint, preview, render. The registry adds about 450 blocks, from transitions and kinetic type to charts and maps. It is also listed in Anthropic's official plugin marketplace. Needs Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg. Best for motion graphics, promos and captioned social video; HyperFrames vs Remotion compares the two renderers in detail.

The broadest kit here: 12 production pipelines that take a brief through research, script, narration, assets, edit and render, with a local storyboard board where you approve the visuals before the render. It can run free, with Piper voices and open footage from Archive.org, NASA and Wikimedia Commons, or use paid providers if you add keys. It composes with Remotion or HyperFrames, so Remotion's license applies when it picks Remotion. Under AGPL-3.0, if you run a modified version as a network service, you must offer its source. Needs Python 3.10+, FFmpeg and Node.js 18+.
git clone https://github.com/calesthio/OpenMontage.git
cd OpenMontage
make setupvideo-use
From the Browser Use team: put raw takes in a folder, chat, and get final.mp4 back. It transcribes with ElevenLabs Scribe for word-level timing, cuts filler words and dead air, color grades, adds 30 ms audio fades at every cut, burns in subtitles and checks its own render at each cut before showing you. Overlays come from HyperFrames, Remotion, Manim or PIL. You need FFmpeg and an ElevenLabs API key. For editing talking heads, tutorials and interviews; see also Claude video editing.
git clone https://github.com/browser-use/video-use ~/Developer/video-use
ln -sfn ~/Developer/video-use ~/.claude/skills/video-use
cd ~/Developer/video-use && uv sync
cp .env.example .env # then add ELEVENLABS_API_KEYRemotion skills and plugin
Maintained by Remotion's own team: /remotion-best-practices covers everything, with focused skills for creating, rendering, captions, maps and documentation lookups. In Agent Skills Hub's test they rendered reliably, but the film came out close to what Claude makes with no skill, so bring your own design direction. Neither repo carries its own license file; both are published from Remotion's main repository, so the Remotion License applies, with a paid company license from four people up.

claude plugin install remotion@remotionclaude-code-video-toolkit
Digital Samba's workspace bundles skills (Remotion, ElevenLabs, FFmpeg, Playwright recording), slash commands such as /setup, /video and /redub, and templates for product demos and sprint reviews. It leans on open-source voice, image and video models that you deploy to your own cloud GPU account on Modal or RunPod. MIT, though its Remotion templates fall under Remotion's license. For teams making product demos and release videos.

@tenfoldmarc's skill turns phone clips of you talking into a finished Instagram reel: it picks the best take of each line, cuts dead air, cuts you out of the background so big words sit behind your head, and applies one of three looks. Built on HyperFrames and faster-whisper; made on a Mac, with newer Windows support. The repo has no license file, so default copyright applies and you have no explicit right to modify or redistribute it.
git clone https://github.com/tenfoldmarc/video-edit-skill "$HOME/.claude/skills/video-edit"

charlie947's 41 skills edit a to-camera recording into motion video: 21 editing skills, from intake and brand setup to hooks, captions and sound, plus 20 one-command effects on your own clip. One build exports 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 and 16:9. MIT, but brand new (published October 20, six stars), and its background cutout uses a GPL-3.0 model. Needs FFmpeg, Node.js 18+ and Python 3.
npx skills add charlie947/reel-editing-skills -gawesome-claude-video-skills
When you need something narrower, this list catalogs 362 open-source video repos by type, each with a security grade from Agent Skills Hub. Its maintainers also had 16 skills make the same 15-second promo on October 11: every one produced a valid film, and so did Claude Code with no skill, in 4.4 minutes. Their conclusion is worth keeping: a skill earns its place with a distinct look, a workflow or footage to edit, not by making rendering possible.
Paid packs
Paid packs sell finished formats rather than tools. Prices are from each seller's own site on October 28, sorted by lowest price.

Claude loads a skill on its own when your request matches its description, or you call it with
/skill-name; plugin skills appear as/plugin:skill. A new plugin may need/reload-pluginsbefore it shows up.
How to judge a skill before you trust it
A skill is instructions plus code, and Anthropic's docs are plain about what that means. A plugin can run arbitrary code on your machine with your user privileges, through hooks, MCP servers and executables in its bin/ folder, and Anthropic says it can't verify what third-party plugins contain or that they won't change. Skills can bundle scripts and run shell commands before their content even reaches Claude.
- Read the files, not the README. Open
SKILL.mdand every script; for plugins, alsohooks/hooks.json,.mcp.jsonandbin/.claude plugin details <name>lists what an installed plugin added. - Check which tools it pre-approves. Through
allowed-tools, a skill can pre-approve broad tool access for itself, and Claude Code applies a project skill'sallowed-toolseven in a folder you never trusted. - Watch updates. With auto-update on, the files you reviewed can change on disk. It's off by default for third-party marketplaces; leave it off for anything you haven't re-read.
- Check two licenses. The skill's, and the renderer's: anything that renders with Remotion needs a company license once your company has four or more people.
- Note what it needs. API keys (video-use asks for ElevenLabs), cloud GPU accounts or paid voice services.
- Treat stars as popularity, not an audit. A week-old repo with six stars can be fine, and a famous one can change tomorrow. Read it either way.
- Switch off inline shell commands if you need to. Setting
disableSkillShellExecutiontotruestops them in user, project and plugin skills.
Installing a skill from a stranger is like running their install script. Read it first, or have your agent read it for you without running anything.
Before installing anything, read every file in [GitHub repo URL]: SKILL.md, all scripts, and for plugins hooks/hooks.json, .mcp.json and bin/. List every shell command it runs, every network address it contacts, every API key or environment variable it reads, and any allowed-tools it grants itself. Flag anything that deletes files or sends data off this machine. Don't install or run anything yet.
Install the HyperFrames skills for this project, then make a 15-second 1080x1920 test video: my logo from ./brand on a solid background, then the line “[your line]” in kinetic type. Render it to MP4 and tell me what you installed, where it lives and how long the render took.

What are Claude skills?
Folders with a SKILL.md file of instructions, plus optional scripts and reference files, that Claude Code loads when a request matches the skill's description or when you type its name as a slash command. They live in ~/.claude/skills for all your projects or in .claude/skills inside one project.
Is there an official Claude skills marketplace?
Anthropic runs official plugin marketplaces, including claude-plugins-official, which Claude Code adds for you and claude.com/marketplace lists; plugins can carry skills. Many video skills live only on GitHub and install with git or with Vercel Labs' npx skills tool, which lists them at skills.sh.
Are third-party Claude Code skills safe?
Not automatically. Plugins can run code with your user privileges, and skills can bundle scripts and shell commands. Read SKILL.md, the scripts, hooks and MCP configuration before installing, and keep auto-update off for marketplaces you don't control.
What is the best free Claude skill for video?
It depends on the job. For motion graphics and promos, HyperFrames (Apache-2.0); for teams that build in React, Remotion's official skills; for editing your own footage, video-use (MIT); for full productions from a brief, OpenMontage (AGPL-3.0).
Do these skills work in Codex or Cursor?
Many do. HyperFrames' skills name Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI, Remotion's name Codex and Cursor, and npx skills installs to about 80 agents. Some, such as video-edit-skill and Claude Editing Skills, are built for Claude Code only.
